How This Sneakerhead Spent $10 and Ended Up Winning Air Jordans Worth $18,000

Raffles and giveaways are commonplace in the sneaker community, but hauls like the one you’re about to see happen once in a lifetime.

Hawaiian sneakerhead Jayden Oamil recently stopped by Las Vegas sneaker boutique Urban Necessities to try his luck at the store’s famed Heat Locker arcade game, which has spawned a number of imitations and similar vending machine-like installations at stores around the country.

Oamil, who goes by the handle @jay.oamil on Instagram, made the most of his opportunity by trying his luck at rapper Eminem’s extremely coveted Air Jordan 4 collaboration with Carhartt. According to a post by Urban Necessities, Oamil spent $10 on the machine before winning the rare kicks, which the store says are worth $18,000. Urban Necessities adds that Oamil is its 785th Heat Locker winner since introducing the machine in 2015.

The Eminem x Carhartt x Air Jordan 4s, which celebrate the 15-year anniversary of Eminem’s Shady Records label, were released exclusively through an eBay auction in November 2015. Just 10 pairs of the collaborative sneakers were made available, with all proceeds benefiting at-risk youth. At the time, the average sale price hovered around the $22,000 mark, and the sneakers have become increasingly scarce since then.
