Summer vacation plans are underway, with trips to exotic destinations and today’s popular staycations just some of the options available. However, good old-fashioned camping trips are making a comeback, according to the 2106 North American Camping Report, an annual independent study supported by the Kampgrounds of America Inc.
More than 1 million households in North America started camping last year, according to the report. And, looking at 2016, there’s a net 25 percent point increase in campers who intend to take more camping trips this year.
With the top three camping destinations focused on U.S. national parks, state parks, beaches and coastal areas, having the right footwear to safely explore nature is essential. And, as any good camper knows, preparedness is everything — so it’s time to start shopping for the right pair of shoes.
Most parks offer a range of hiking options, are there are boots that cover heavy-duty and light hiking. While performance features such as waterproofing and moisture-wicking linings are key, there’s no reason to give up on comfort. Look for styles with cushioned footbeds and lightweight outsoles from brands such as Wolverine, Timberland and The North Face.
