UFC 196: How Conor McGregor And Nate Diaz Match Up

Conor McGregor now has an opponent for UFC 196, and it’s someone that talks just as much trash as he does.

Nate Diaz, a veteran in the UFC, will step into the octagon against the Reebok-sponsored McGregor on March 5, after lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos withdrew from the fight with a broken foot.

Diaz won his last fight, a three-round unanimous decision victory over Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 2 in December, and enters the McGregor fight with a 19-10-0 record. McGregor, the current featherweight champion, comes into the welterweight fight against Diaz with a 19-2-0 record. His last fight was an electrifying bout against former featherweight champion José Aldo, resulting in knocking out the then champion in 13 seconds and taking his belt. The Irish fighter is moving up not one but two weight classes to face Diaz.

McGregor – who signed a deal with Reebok back in January 2015 – posted training videos to his personal Instagram account today, hitting the heavy bag while wearing the brand’s ZPump Fusion shoeFootwear News spoke with McGregor in June about training in the brand’s ZPump Fusion. “I’ve been doing my runs in the Las Vegas heat, and they have been very good, very comfortable,” he said.
