Under Armour Extends Partnership With Baseball Star Bryce Harper

Under Armour has one of the best stables of sponsored athletes in the athletic market. The brand announced today that it has locked up a multiyear extension with one of baseball’s biggest stars.

The Baltimore-based athletic brand has agreed to an extension of its partnership with 23-year-old Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper. Although the terms of the extension were not released in a statement from the label, Under Armour confirmed Harper would continue to be featured in its marketing campaigns for its training and lifestyle products, as well as its Connected Fitness platforms.

“Bryce embodies our brand’s founding philosophy of ‘Aggressive, Young and Fearless,’ and we look forward to continuing to aid in his upward progression in the sport of baseball,” Peter Murray, VP of global sports marketing at Under Armour, said in a statement. “We admire his heart for the game, and are proud of what he’s accomplished in the five years since he first teamed up with us at Under Armour. He has a bright future ahead, and we’re really thrilled to be a part of his team on this journey.”

Harper, the first overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft, has made a name for himself as one of the best players in the game during his short career so far, winning the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 2012 and the National League’s Most Valuable Player Award last season.

“I’m proud to call Under Armour my family, and I know that together, we will achieve great things,” Harper said in a statement. “Under Armour has been one of my biggest advocates since I began my professional journey, and I can’t wait to share what’s next with the fans.”

Under Armour announced in April that it would release its first signature baseball cleat for Harper, the “Harper One,” on July 15.
