Tim Coppens talked Under Armour shoes with Footwear News in June after word got out that he’d assume the creative director role at the athletic label’s sportswear brand. In his first collection with Under Armour, the visionary delivered his take on a standout trail silhouette.
In the Under Armour Sportswear collection is the RLT Fat Tire Boot, a high-top style boasting a padded aniline leather upper and the brand’s renowned rugged Fat Tire outsole. The boot will retail for $219.
In the Under Armour Sportswear lookbook, the first iteration of the style is dressed in traditional outdoor tones, with a brown and black upper, black midsole and white outsole.

The first look of the collection has just one footwear style but a number of apparel options, including the Transparent Parka ($349), the Draftday Tailored Sportscoat ($449), the women’s Formation Legging ($179), the Transition Vest ($199) and the Draftday Oxford ($129).
“I want to make product they don’t currently have at Under Armour, that people don’t expect,” Coppens told Footwear News. “And building the brand from the ground up, giving it a complete vision from shoes to hats and clothes takes a lot of work, but it’s something I’m super-excited about.”
The fall ’16 collection will be available starting Sept. 15 at Barney’s, Mr. Porter and other high-end fashion retailers nationwide, as well as UASportswear.com and Under Armour Brand Houses in New York, Boston and Chicago. The full Under Armour Sportswear range will be shown next month during New York Fashion Week.
