Top athletic brands are releasing a steady stream of running shoes as of late. The list of brands now includes Under Armour, as it is set to debut its latest running innovation tomorrow.
The UA SpeedForm Slingshot arrives Friday in men’s and women’s sizes and will retail for $140.

The shoe has been in development since 2014, according to the brand, with a focus of analyzing the world’s fastest runners and trying to make them faster. The brand’s shoe designers sought to find how they could strengthen the foot, the instrument the body uses to generate speed, and went back to Under Armour’s compression roots to do so. What the brand said it created with the UA SpeedForm Slingshot is a runner that “acts as one big muscle-mimicking compression spring for your foot.”

The UA SpeedForm Slingshot features a seamless upper that boasts two performance fabrics – UA Tech and Dyneema – with asymmetrical compression zones of varying strength, which work together to power the foot through the gait cycle faster.
The shoe also features a Pebax propulsion plate in the midsole that acts like a launching pad, maximizing energy at the toe-off.
