A bolt of lightning doesn’t strike twice. But Usain Bolt is trying to strike three times.
The Jamaican runner, who won gold for the third time in the 100-meter race and held on to his title as the world’s fastest man earlier this week at the Rio Games, will step into the spotlight again Thursday night.
The Puma-sponsored athlete is aiming to capture a gold medal in the men’s 200 race, and as the winner of the event at the last two Olympics, he’s the hands-down favorite.
The 29-year-old, known for his gold shoes and signature victory pose, is also hoping to break his world record: 19.19 seconds, set seven years ago.
Bolt, who first signed with Puma in 2003, renewed his contract in 2010 and inked a more lucrative deal in 2013, has said the Olympics in Brazil will be his last.
“I have done everything and have proven myself,” he said at a press conference earlier this month.
