The second day of the Wimbledon tennis championship was cut short due to rain, but not before Serena Williams and Andy Murray were able to secure first-round victories on Centre Court.
Williams kicked off the competition Tuesday afternoon with a decisive win over Swiss athlete Amra Sadikovic. For the tournament, the No. 1-ranked Williams debuted a new tennis dress, created with her longtime sponsor Nike.
And she took to Instagram to show off the look:
Williams also wore a crisp white version of her signature sneaker, the NikeCourt Flare, which is available now on Nike.com for $200. She has been wearing the shoes since the 2015 Australian Open, and each pair embodies Williams’ unique style. Case in point: Even at Wimbledon, where the dress code calls for traditional tennis whites, she managed to slip in a little personality by featuring her heart logo on the shoe’s back pull tab.

As for Murray, his practice rounds at a hidden court under London’s Postal Museum certainly paid off. In the first round, the No. 2-ranked pro easily dispensed with fellow Brit Liam Broady while wearing the UA Clutchfit Pursuit sneakers, created especially for him by new sponsor Under Armour.
Alas, those shoes are not yet on the market.
A native of Scotland, Murray last won Wimbledon in 2013 and has said he’s determined to reclaim the crown this year. Earlier this month, he secured his fifth consecutive win at the Queen’s Club tourney in London, so the taste of victory is fresh for him. And he likely will be ready to avenge his French Open defeat at the hands of Novak Djokovic.
