Baby Shoe Brand Freshly Picked Adds Collection For Bigger Kids

Freshly Picked is growing up.

The Provo, Utah-based brand, known for its simple fringed-leather moccasins for babies, is now offering hard-sole styles for bigger kids.

Available in sizes 7 to 13, the Next Step shoe features the brand’s signature moccasin silhouette on a sturdy rubber bottom that’s ideal for outdoor play. Stretchy elastic laces make them easy to get on and off.

The shoes come in an array of sophisticated colors, including rose gold, blue spruce, blush, platinum and ebony. For kids looking to make a bolder statement, there is also a funky leopard motif and a playful pizza print. Priced at $65, the Next Step shoe can be purchased online at Freshlypicked.com and Nordstrom.com.

Watch on FN

Founded by entrepreneur and mother-of-two Susan Petersen in 2009, Freshly Picked has taken the baby market by storm with its moccasins, inspiring a wave of copycat styles. The brand enjoyed a major publicity boost in 2014, when Petersen was chosen to appear on the ABC reality series “Shark Tank.” Her well-executed pitch landed her a deal with shark Daymond John for $150,000 in exchange for a 25 percent stake in her company (although she later decided not to pursue the deal, preferring to maintain exclusive ownership).

Today, Freshly Picked is a multimillion-dollar business, and Petersen is working to build a baby-focused lifestyle assortment. In addition to shoes, she recently began a collaboration with blogger Naomi Davis of Lovetaza.com to offer a series of “Bringing Home Baby” gift bundles, featuring items such as swaddles, hats and moccasins for baby as well as robes and cozy socks for mom.

Petersen has plans to roll out additional new product categories in the future, including a major launch in 2017, so stay tuned.
