Kids are crazy for emojis.
The colorful icons have taken the children’s fashion world by storm, showing up on everything from T-shirts and socks to backpacks and cell-phone cases. It’s no surprise that footwear brands have embraced the trend in a big way, serving up adorable styles decorated with both appliqués and allover prints. From sneakers to flip-flops, these fun shoes add a playful note to any outfit.
To help you lock down the look, we rounded up some of the market’s best emoji-inspired footwear — from designer styles to more affordable options from discount stores such as Target and Walmart.
Never one to miss a hot trend, shoe king Steve Madden offers his take: a sleek metallic zip-up sneaker decorated with colorful patches. Tween brand Justice, meanwhile, jazzed up a simple black canvas high-top with pizza, peace-sign and heart appliqués.

Skechers went all out with its popular Burst athletic shoe, covering not only the upper but the laces, too, with a whimsical emoji print. Sandal label Tkees took a subtler approach, detailing the straps of its simple leather flip-flops with small ornaments. (Note: The flip-flops also are available in women’s sizes for a mother-daughter look.)
