Soles4Souls Fundraises And Donates Shoes For National Go Barefoot Day

June 1 is National Go Barefoot Day, which was started in 2008 by Soles4Souls as a day to raise awareness and money for its charitable cause.

The organization is asking that you go barefoot and post a photo to social media today. For every dollar donated, the nonprofit will donate a new pair of shoes to a child in need.

“Most of us don’t give much thought to putting on shoes because we have not ever been forced to go without them,” Soles4Souls President and CEO Buddy Teaster said in a statement. “National Go Barefoot Day is a way to be more thoughtful about what it means to have a pair of good shoes. More importantly, it gives each of us a reason to reflect on how much harder life is without a pair. By thinking about the power of a pair of shoes, we hope you’ll put the shoes you no longer need to work to bring hope and opportunity to others around the world.”
