An act of kindness does not go unnoticed by Ellen DeGeneres. On Thursday, the talk-show host brought a local Chicago woman to her show after her generosity toward a homeless woman went viral.
Kelly McGuire was coming home from a Bears game and noticed a homeless woman holding a sign that said she needed warm clothes and warm boots. McGuire proceeded to approach the woman, telling her husband she was about to do something crazy and that she needed to give this woman her boots.
McGuire explained the story to DeGeneres, saying that she told the homeless woman, “I want to give you my boots too. I’m just going to sit down right next to you …” McGuire took her shoes off of her own feet and to her surprise, the woman said in return, “But what about your feet? You know, I don’t want your feet to be cold. Can I give you my old boots?”
Degeneres was so inspired by the story and told the crowd how she admired McGuire’s giving ways so much that she wanted to give her own Ed by Ellen boots away. “I thought I would give you my shoes. They’re your size exactly. We’re the same size,” said DeGeneres. “And I always keep my money in it, so I have $10,000.”

DeGeneres’ only request was that McGuire would give 10 friends $1,000 each to pay it forward to someone else in need. She then pulled out another stack of $10,000 from the other Ed by Ellen bootie and said that was for McGuire to enjoy herself.
