Timberland is giving new meaning to tossing around the pigskin. The boot brand recently unveiled special boots that pay homage to next month’s historic Super Bowl 50 event, and it will soon be celebrating the launch with New York-based retailer Nohble.
The Timberland collection includes two luxe versions of the brand’s classic 6-inch boot, decked out in black and brown Horween Leather with genuine rawhide laces and 18k-gold hardware and eyelets.
What’s so special about Horween Leather, you ask? Well, the Horween Leather Co., based in Chicago, is one of the oldest tanneries in the U.S. and has been the official supplier of leather for NFL footballs since 1941. Notice the Timb boots have that same pebbled quality seen on your average ball.

The special styles will retail for $250 and will be available starting Jan. 29 at select Timberland stores, including Nohble, a streetwear and footwear retailer with five locations in New York and New Jersey. To mark the launch, Nohble will be hosting a special VIP event next week at its store in the Bronx.
But Nohble and Timberland aren’t the only ones getting in the Super Bowl spirit. Earlier this week, Nike debuted two collections of football, training and lifestyle shoes embellished with gold accents for the 5oth anniversary.
And the NFL and CFDA threw a fashionable fete on Wednesday to show off their collection of footballs designed by 50 CFDA members, including Rachel Roy, Betsey Johnson, Prabal Gurung, Rebecca Minkoff, Kenneth Cole, Sam and Libby Edelman and Louise Camuto.
