Turkish footwear and accessories brand Dogo is taking a stand in the U.S. market. The company opened its first U.S. store last month, a franchise located in the Menlo Park Mall in Edison, N.J.
The vegan brand was founded in 2006 in Izmir, Turkey, and is best known for its colorful, novelty printed designs for women, men and children that feature fun florals, geometric patterns and even whimsical faces. According to the company, there are roughly 5,000 proprietary patterns that can be tapped for the collection.

The brand’s whimsical name is derived from the Spanish for dog, a commitment by its founders to support projects for the protection of animals. Whenever possible, recycled materials are also used.
For women, there are ballet flats, laceups, sneakers and high heels, all with coordinating bags including clutches, shoulder bags and backpacks. Men’s and kids’ styles include a range of fun sneakers and boots. In addition, there are T-shirts and home accessories.

The brand is currently sold in 58 markets through more than 150 Dogo retail stores, franchises and online. According to husband-and-wife co-owners Uygur and Fatima Soytemiz and Eyup S. Aydin, the collection appeals to customers of all ages, with women’s shoes retailing from $74-$114, men’s from $99-$124 and children’s from $84-$89.
