What Prabal Gurung, Stephen Curry & More Are Saying About the Charlotte Protests

Athletes, celebrities and some in the fashion world are weighing in on a turbulent week in America and the state of policing.

After separate police shootings of black motorists in Tulsa, Okla., and Charlotte, N.C., many are taking to social media to share feelings and thoughts about what’s next for race and police-community relations in the U.S. Notably, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (who until recently didn’t voice such views), Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry (who was raised in Charlotte) and NBA legend Michael Jordan (chairman of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets) have shared their thoughts on the protests in the city throughout the week.

Quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has led a silent protest against racism by taking a knee during the national anthem ahead of San Francisco 49ers games, has been active on Twitter retweeting several messages. Iman Shumpert, a guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, has also announced on Instagram his plans to give back to charities that “improve the struggle between the badge and the citizen.”
