The Shoe Surgeon’s Adidas Boost-Infused ‘Banned’ Air Jordan 1 Drops Sept. 1

The “Banned” Air Jordan 1 is one of the most coveted Michael Jordan signature shoes to ever drop. Next month, a few lucky sneaker addicts will be able to buy a premium custom pair, courtesy of The Shoe Surgeon.

On Sept. 1, Dominic “The Shoe Surgeon” Chambrone will release six pairs of his take on the “Banned” Air Jordan 1. Details on how a pair could be picked up will be released via the customizer’s Instagram account, @theshoesurgeon.

Chambrone said he wanted to create a better quality, longer-lasting version of the acclaimed shoe, adding comfort and luxury to a classic silhouette. To make it an everyday wear, he swapped out the original midsole for Boost cushioning from Adidas.

“Boost is really comfortable; once you wear them, you don’t want to wear much of anything else,” he told Footwear News.

The shoe is executed with red python and black nubuck from Horween, as well as suede leather laces with gold aglet detailing, Japanese cow liner, and leather insoles.

As always, The Shoe Surgeon offers a one-year warranty on shoes made by him, which allows the original owner to send them back and have them fixed.

Chambrone — who makes shoes for the likes of Justin Bieber, Riff Raff and Jerry Ferrara — spoke with Footwear News in December about his personal collection, which is limited to five or six pairs.

“I used to have hundreds of shoes, but it got to the point where I don’t even have time to make myself a pair. I do have a new pair of shoes — a high-top from Clear Weather,” he said.
