Celebrities Continue To Pay Tribute To Prince

On Thursday, Grammy-winning artist Prince died at the age of 57, his publicist Yvette Noel-Schure confirmed. Reports say that he was found unresponsive at his Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minn.

“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,” said Noel-Schure in a statement. “There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”

The musician was perhaps best known for his 1984 “Purple Rain” album, which combined elements of funk, R&B, rock and jazz. Over his long career, he recorded 39 studio albums. He won seven Grammys, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award. His top hits included “Kiss,” “Little Red Corvette,” ”Let’s Go Crazy,” “When Doves Cry” and “Raspberry Beret.” Through the years, other artists had major success with their versions of Prince-written songs, including The Bangles (“Manic Monday”), Sinéad O’Connor (“Nothing Compares 2 U”) and Chaka Khan (“I Feel for You”).

On Thursday evening, the cast of Broadway’s “The Color Purple,” led by Jennifer Hudson, performed Prince’s song “Purple Rain” for the audience.
