Women In Power: Jimmy Choo’s Michele Prandi Talks About The Importance Of A Mentor

Michele Prandi, VP of wholesale for Jimmy Choo, is encouraging fellow women to not accept no as an answer and to trust your instincts. For FN’s Women in Power series, Prandi talks about the most surprising thing she has learned in the footwear industry and cultivating more female talent.

Experience as a mentee: “The WIFI mentoring program was a wonderful experience for me personally. As a mentee, I was appreciative of the guidance and support from my mentor, Carol Goodhue. She encouraged me to focus on key areas of my professional development and set individual career goals, which I feel has made me into a stronger businesswoman.”

Best advice received: “To trust your gut and don’t take no for an answer. I’m always finding creative solutions in my day to day.”

Biggest challenges for women: “The wage gap and fewer executive job opportunities, which I am hopeful will both change in the years to come.”

Cultivating more female talent in the industry: “I believe we need to continue to support programs like WIFI, which allows young females to become empowered to grow both professionally and personally. Women supporting women is a powerful network we must all utilize in life.”
