Women In Power: Carol Baiocchi Of Kohl’s On Not Being Afraid to Speak Up

Carol Baiocchi, VP and DMM of Kohl’s, is encouraging women to “recognize their talent and have a voice.” For FN’s Women in Power series, the executive sounds off on her best piece of advice and the challenges that women in the industry face.

Being a mentor: “Being involved in WIFI has been extremely rewarding in that there is so much interest from women. We are gaining perspective on their careers, their futures and how they fit in.”

Best advice to give: “Being able to share your experiences, to not be afraid to speak up and let people know what you think and what your needs are is so essential to success. Communication and gaining confidence are two things that become essential moves for success.”

Biggest challenges for women: “It’s challenging to recognize the talent they have and how they have a voice and to be identify those talents early on. To understand the voice they have, how important networking is and to get to know the companies they are interested in.”

Advice for cultivating more young female talent: “It’s so important to be able to share experiences. Mentoring and giving people perspective on life’s challenges as well as learning’s is so important. That’s what we’re trying to do at WIFI is organize in a way that we’re constantly keeping the focus on development.”
