Carven Sends Striped Statement Shoes Down the Runway

The Show: Left Bank insouciance met all the fun of the county fair today at Carven‘s Paris Fashion Week spring ’17 collection. Designers Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud took the classic Breton stripe and foulard scarf and reimagined them as tiny 1970s-style polo shirts and silken miniskirts, respectively.

The Shoes: As for the shoes, it was the stripe that took center stage once more. Stripes done fairground style, like a helter-skelter ride, emblazoned the rounded heels of stompy mules, which often came embellished with diamanté frosting.

There were also chunky platform sandals, and both key styles played out in lace, animal print and velvet. A couple of pairs came fashioned in foulard fabrics to match those scarf-style miniskirts.

The Verdict: Statement shoes for gamine girls who don’t take themselves too seriously.
