Chanel’s Classic Ballet Flat Makes a Comeback for Spring

It goes without saying that the visionary that is Karl Lagerfeld is perennially hardwired to create.

The Chanel spring ’17 show at Paris Fashion Week took place in an industrial-chic data center hosted by mega servers. The high-tech theme pulsed throughout the collection, which included classic tweeds programmed with holographic fibers and a new spin on the uber-Chanel flat.

The stark-white perforated bootie silhouette had crisscross elastic strapping, calling to mind a Ballerina 3.0.

But lest we forget where it all started, and the enduring appeal of those super-charged house codes. Lagerfeld reminded us where we all started: the original ballet flat, which also made a comeback in neutrals buzzed with metallic cap toes. In a fashion climate and world of constant updates, sometime the familiar rings the loudest.
