Salvatore Ferragamo Men’s Spring 2017 Collection

We often don’t associate luxury with practicality, but Salvatore Ferragamo‘s spring ’17 men’s collection aimed to challenge that.

The latest offering, the first without creative director Massimiliano Giornettito, who exited last season, was envisioned by Ferragamo’s design team and offered travel-wear elements such as fanny packs, oversized cargo pockets on suits and seriously industrial grade-looking shoes.

Sandals also had the bulky shape to it, with thick rubber soles meant for exploring. Every luxury house this season seems to have a mandal — at least they tried a different shape here, though unsure if it was the right one. It treaded into dad-sandal territory.

Dressier shoes in the collection included lace-up oxfords with graphic yellow soles and piping. A ray of sunshine in a mostly neutral palette, and a nice continuation from last season’s colorful paint splatter dress shoes.
