The Pointed-Toe Mary Jane Returns for Spring at Mary Katrantzou

Though Mary Katrantzou‘s designs shave global appeal, the designer went local for spring. The collection focused on classical codes that inspired the evocative ancient world of her birthplace. Ever the experimentalist, she was not afraid to inject old world sensibilities with the hyper modern; artifact and key imagery were distorted for printed dresses.

With all this visual interest up top, Katrantzou took a simpler approach when it came to footwear. Pointed-toe Mary Janes in collaboration with Gianvito Rossi were the stuff of shoe lore, calling to mind the Manolos made famous in “Sex and the City.”

Here, a bit primly, they were styled with mid-calf socks. It’s a trick to try now.
