Industry Moves: February 2017

Feb. 27, 2017: Louis Vuitton has named Lanessa Elrod its new president of the Americas zone, effective April 1, WWD reports. She succeeds Anthony Ledru, who will relocate to Paris to become Louis Vuitton’s EVP of commercial activities. Ledru will replace Christopher Zanardi-Landi, who was named CEO of Thomas Pink last month. Elrod previously served as Louis Vuitton’s SVP of U.S. retail.

Feb. 24, 2017: Insoles maker Superfeet has announced several key leadership appointments. John Rauvola is assuming the role of CEO and president of the company; Dave Howard is being promoted to COO; and Eric Hayes is being promoted to chief marketing officer.

Feb. 17, 2017: Maison Margiela is set to name Diesel executive Riccardo Bellini its new brand CEO, succeeding Giovanni PungettiWWD reports. Pungetti will become CEO for the Greater China region, overseeing all of the OTB group’s companies  in the region. OTB is the parent for Diesel, Maison Margiela, Marni and Staff International.

Feb. 17, 2017: Puma has appointed Bob Philion to role of president of Puma North America. Philion has been part of the company since 2005. He led Puma’s acquisition of Cobra Puma Golf in 2010 and has served as president and CEO of the division for the past seven years. In addition to his new role with Puma North America, Philion will continue leading the global Cobra Puma Golf business. Philion replaces Jay Piccola, who is retiring after 20 years with the company.

Feb. 14, 2017:  Tom Ford has promoted Brian Blake to president and COO of Tom Ford International, effective immediately. He is assuming the responsibilities of Tom Mendenhall who has left his position as EVP and COO to pursue other opportunities. Blake will report directly to CEO Tom Ford. Most recently, Blake held the position of CEO of distribution and manufacturing within the company.

Feb. 14, 2017: Caleres has made two leadership appointments in its Famous Footwear division: Karlyn Mattson has been named chief merchandising officer, and Chris Cavalline is now SVP of e-commerce. Mattson joins Caleres following a 25-year career at Target Corp., where she was most recently VP merchandise manager of shoes, accessories and intimate apparel for retail and online. Cavalline most recently served as chief merchandising officer of Vitacost.com, an online retailer of healthy living products and a subsidiary of The Kroger Co. Both new hires also spent time at Macy’s Inc.

Feb. 13, 2017: Tom Kennedy has been appointed to the role of president of Sperry, the second-largest brand in Wolverine World Wide Inc.’s portfolio, effective immediately. Kennedy joined the company over a year ago to take on the newly created position of president of apparel and accessories. Before joining Wolverine, he was EVP of the Fossil Brand with the Fossil Group.

Feb. 9, 2017: VF Corp. has appointed Roger Spatz to the position of brand president or Reef, effective immediately. In addition to his new role, Spatz will continue to serve as president of VF’s Eagle Creek brand, a position he has held since 2011. During his 12 years at VF, Spatz has held a series of senior leadership roles, including serving as CFO of both the Reef brand and the VF outlet business.

Feb. 9, 2017: Yoox Net-a-Porter Group has appointed Dana Gers as global marketing and communications director for Net-a-Porter. Gers, who is currently SVP of global brand marketing and communications at Jimmy Choo, will join the luxury e-tailer in mid-April 2017. In this newly created position, Gers will lead the Net-a-Porter’s brand communications strategy, while being responsible for driving sales, customer acquisition and retention. In the past, Gers has held roles with Guerlain, The Movado Group, Baccarat and Salvatore Ferragamo.

Feb. 8, 2017: Payless ShoeSource has hired Ellen Junger as chief customer and marketing officer. In her new role, the company said Junger will, among other things, identify market trends, analyze consumer data and pursue new development opportunities. Junger most recently served as chief marketing officer and SVP of brand development at Hallmark Cards.

Feb. 6, 2017: Wolverine World Wide Inc. has appointed Todd Spaletto to the position of president of the Wolverine Outdoor and Lifestyle Group and Jim Zwiers to the position of EVP. Both roles will report directly to Blake Krueger, Wolverine Worldwide’s chairman, CEO and president. In his new role, Spaletto — who most recently served as president of The North Face brand at VF Corp. — will lead the growth of the Merrell, Chaco, CAT, Hush Puppies and Sebago brands. In the newly created position of EVP, 19-year Wolverine veteran Zwiers will now lead the company’s  strategic transformation initiatives.

Feb. 2, 2017: VF Corp. announced the appointment of Brendan Sullivan to the position of president of sportswear. He succeeds Karen Murray, who will become a senior brand adviser to the firm’s sportswear department. Sullivan previously served as VF’s VP of direct-to-consumer. In his new sportswear leadership role, he is responsible for the Nautica and Kipling brands in North America. Sullivan will report to Curt Holtz, president of imagewear, jeans and sportswear brands. Sullivan joined VF in 2007 as VP of retail services.

Feb. 2, 2017: Designer Riccardo Tisci is leaving Givenchy, the house that he reinvented over the 12 years he spent at the helm. His departure, effective Jan. 31, also marks the end of his latest contract. A successor has not been appointed, and as a result, Givenchy has canceled its fall 2017 runway show, which was due to take place March 5 during Paris Fashion Week.

Feb. 2, 2017: Mark Lee, who joined Barneys as CEO in 2010, has been named executive chairman of the luxury retailer, reporting to Richard Perry, whose hedge fund Perry Capital owns a majority stake in the company. Daniella Vitale, formerly COO of Barneys New York, has been named CEO.

Feb. 2, 2017: Ralph Lauren president and CEO Stefan Larsson is leaving the company, effective May 1. Ralph Lauren CFO Jane Nielsen will lead the execution of Larsson’s “Way Forward” plan until a new CEO joins the company. Larsson joined Ralph Lauren in November 2015, replacing the company’s founder and longtime leader. According to the company, creative differences led to the departure.

Feb. 1, 2017: Outdoor footwear company Oboz Footwear has promoted Christian Mason to the role of VP of sales and marketing. Mason, who joined the company in 2014 and managed its independent sales force, will oversee national sales and marketing for the company. Steve Lowry has been promoted to sales and marketing coordinator at Oboz. Lowry joined the company in November 2014 as part of the customer service team.

Feb. 1, 2017: Brian Henke has been named the new CEO of Versace USA, effective immediately. He succeeds Michele Sodi, who held the role since 2009. Henke most recently served as president of Jimmy Choo USA, a post he held for eight years. He also previously spent 11 years at Prada, both in the U.S. and Europe.
