Meghan Markle Makes a Major Footwear Faux Pas

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continued their royal tour of Ireland today.

The young couple headed to the city’s sporting ground of Croke Park — an apt choice of venue, with soccer at the forefront of everyone’s minds. (England is due to play Croatia this evening in the World Cup semifinal.)

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex toured the ground hand in hand. Markle dressed for the occasion in a dark-colored tapered pantsuit by Givenchy with a white T-shirt underneath.

However, when the duo ventured onto the soccer pitch to meet with the city’s young fans, it became apparent that Markle had made a major fashion faux pas through her choice of footwear.

Grass and high heels do not mix — and the duchess’ Sarah Flint heels can be seen sinking into the soccer pitch. (Perhaps she should’ve taken a page out of the Duchess of Cambridge’s style playbook and opted for a wedge heel.) However, a pair of flat pumps could have been a more informed choice.

The duo are set to visit the Old Library at Trinity College Dublin today, followed by a visit to the Famine Memorial, EPIC Irish Emigration Museum and the city’s startup hub, DogPatch Labs.
