Nike Is About to Release a New Supercharged Running Shoe

Diehard runners who lace up Nike to hit the road will soon have a new, fast shoe to wear.

The Swoosh unveiled today the Zoom Pegasus Turbo, an upgraded iteration of the celebrated Pegasus model that the brand said is inspired by its Vaporfly Elite and 4% marathon shoes. According to the brand, the sneaker was built to deliver a feeling similar to the Pegasus but with the lightweight sensation of a racing flat.

Nike said it constructed the shoe with feedback from decorated Kenyan long distance runner Eliud Kipchoge, who “asked for the magic of the 4% in a trainer for daily use.”

The new model features Nike’s acclaimed energy-returning ZoomX foam midsole (which it states is its lightest-weight and fastest foam ever) and is executed with the same aerodynamic shape of the heel.

The Zoom Pegasus Turbo is built with a seamless translucent mesh upper with Flywire cables, a racing stripe from the tongue to below the forefoot, small waffle pistons in the outsole for traction and to absorb impact and a heel collar that curves away from the Achilles tendon to avoid rubbing or irritation.

The Zoom Pegasus Turbo will retail for $180.

For NikePlus members in the U.S., China, Japan, Germany, U.K. and Brazil, the sneaker arrives July 19 via the Nike and NRC apps. The sneaker will have a global launch on Aug. 2 via Nike.com and at select retailers.
