Every year in the sneaker media world, there is much debate about which NBA player has the best rotation of sneakers throughout the season. A few candidates are always debated over, but at last, a champion has officially been crowned.
The National Basketball Player’s Association, during its end-of-season awards, named P.J. Tucker the NBA’s Sneaker Champ.
A new category of the awards list this year for the labor union that represents all NBA players, the Sneaker Champ joins other areas of recognition both on and off the court, including MVP, the most clutch player, the most respected and the best dresser, to name a few. The players decided Tucker had the best sneaker game during the 2017-18 season, which is not the least bit surprising if you’ve been tracking his footwear all year.
The Houston Rockets small forward consistently broke out an impressive array of sneakers throughout the regular season, and he continued the run straight through the postseason as the team made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals before falling to the Golden State Warriors. Tucker shocked sneakerheads on what seemed like a nightly basis by lacing up rare and coveted models many barely dare to wear casually in fear of ruining. Some of the most notable sneakers he laced up include the Off-White x Air Jordan 1, multiple Oregon Ducks Air Jordan PEs and, perhaps most notably, the infamous “Red October” Nike Air Yeezy 2, which sells for upwards of $8,000. Tucker also made headlines during the Playoffs when he wore an early pair of Travis Scott’s yet-to-be-released Air Jordan 4 collab.
