Doja Cat Gets All Dolled Up in a Glittering Coat, Invisible Pants & These Disputed Hoof Boots

Doja Cat got all dolled up this week but not without her signature bold taste and daring touch.

The “Say So” singer tapped Maison Margiela for her standout outfit of the day on Tuesday, modeling a monochrome look from the French fashion house. The ensemble kicked off with a gold glittering bralette layered under a patchwork oversize coat. With help from stylist Brett Alan Nelson, Doja Cat also included barely-there pants with a sheer white finish to round out the ensemble.

The finishing touch for the unmissable look came in the form of Margiela’s most disputed footwear silhouette: the Tabi boots. Taking inspiration from animal hooves, the design features a split-toe front for an eerily realistic appeal. The style also comes set atop a rounded block heel with a three-inch lift, all retailing for around $1,000 on Ssense.

Footwear fans across the world often voice their opinions on the split-toe silhouette, an element that has now been incorporated into everything from sneakers to slingback pumps from Margiela. While some value the unique design and its statement-making effect, others can’t get over the oddity and decline to acknowledge it as a trend.

The elevated boots, though, fall in line with Doja Cat’s typical taste and style. The 25-year-old musician favors the bold for red carpet occasions, modeling everything from sheer Givenchy gowns to pointy Bottega Venetaa heels and custom Georges Hobeika designs. Her off-duty attire includes just as wow-worthy of pieces as well — think Philipp Plein thigh-high boots and Fashion Nova leopard bodysuits. Most recently, the “Streets” musician partnered with PrettyLittleThing to launch her own collection of must-have styles.
