Red Wing Heritage is celebrating individuality.

On Tuesday, Red Wing launched its first-ever global campaign, dubbing the footwear brand as “Out of Fashion.” The phrase, which is also the name of the campaign, serves to “amplify stories from real people who stand proud in their ideas and identities and never chase trends, norms or expectations.”

To capture the idea, Red Wing partnered up with laundromat owners, who also happen to be internet sensations, The Changs. Wan-ji [Mr. Chang] and Sho-er [Mrs. Chang] went viral last year after they began modeling forgotten clothing — in fashionable ways — left at their Taiwan-based Want Show Laundry on social media. The Changs not only posed in the abandoned laundry, but also began repairing and caring for items, giving them new life. While repurposing clothing and material has since become huge in the fashion industry under the term “sustainability,” for the Changs, it is just their way of life — and not something they do to be trendy.

Furthermore, the couple created the Want Show Laundry Redefine Project, which unites Taiwan’s laundromats to create a central platform for selling long-forgotten items of clothing. Redefine Project’s proceeds go towards covering unpaid cleaning bills for each laundromat, with any additional dollars funding other charitable causes in Taiwan.

For the Red Wing campaign, the Changs posed in a number of aesthetically cool looks teamed with the brand’s Classic Moc Toe Boot, which the campaign is also celebrating for its timelessness. The Classic Moc was first made in 1952 and has since become a beloved footwear choice due to its long-lasting construction. The Moc features full grain leather uppers and a cork midsole that molds to your feet, creating a personalized fit over time.

In one shot, Mrs. Chang is seen in a striped dress layered atop a long-sleeve pattern shirt teamed with the brand’s Classic Mocs in Style 3427 that come with a $350 price tag. Sitting beside her, Mr. Chang wears wears a crewneck layered atop a plaid button up with denim shorts and also the Mocs in Style 1907, which retail for $290. The Chang’s wardrobe teamed with the Classic Mocs prove that the concept of certain looks being “dated” is a mindset and that with proper styling and care fashion only gets better.

Also included in the campaign are Erin Brown, a.k.a. The Concrete Cowgirl, who works to educate people on the culture and legacy of Black cowboys, and Bioni Samp — a beekeeper with a mission to raise awareness about bees and their ecology system.
