Blundstone Strengthens Ties With Moviemakers at Long Beach Film Festival

Blundstone boots have made plenty of appearances on the sets of major TV shows and films, on the feet of both cast and crew. Over the years, the brand’s increasingly popular Chelsea boots have been part of the blockbusters “Transformers 4” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” as well as popular TV series such as “Criminal Minds” and “Californication.”

This week, the Australian brand continues to bolster its relationship with the entertainment industry by sponsoring the 2015 Long Beach International Film Festival, held in Long Beach, N.Y., from Sept. 24-27.

As part of its sponsorship, Blundstone will air a 20-second clip before each film viewing, sharing part of the label’s fall campaign, #HowIRoam. The campaign was inspired by Blundstone’s ongoing partnership with motorcycle brand Ducati for its Scrambler and incorporates imagery from a cross-country trip and bike giveaway the two companies orchestrated earlier this year.

In addition to airing the clip, Blundstone will have a presence at Long Beach’s opening-night festivities this evening.

The festival kicks off with a screening of “LaMotta: The Bronx Bull,” starring William Forsythe, Paul Sorvino, Joe Mantegna and Tom Sizemore, which explores the life of middleweight boxing champ Jake LaMotta. At a reception following the film, Blundstone will be gifting pairs of its boots to guests at random.

It also will provide boots to actors, directors and jurors throughout the weekend.

Film festivals have proven to be a prime marketing opportunity for Blundstone. The boot brand — which was founded in Australia in 1870 but is still building its name in the States — was a sponsor of the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, earlier this year and was able to mingle with more than 300 filmmakers, jurors and special guests at its hospitality suite.

The brand will continue its efforts this fall when it sponsors the Hamptons International Film Festival, set for Oct. 8-12.
