eBay Is Expanding Its Consignment Service to Include Footwear, Fine Jewelry and Luxury Watches

EBay is expanding its consignment service.

When the marketplace launched its consignment service in September 2023, it began with designer handbags with a promise to expand in 2024 into other luxury categories. On Monday, eBay announced that the service will now include footwear, fine jewelry and luxury watches.

To employ the service, eBay said users will start by filling out the consignment intake form, and upon submission of the form, the customer will be provided with a prepaid, insured shipping label. EBay stated all shipments are insured throughout the shipping process.

Then, eBay and its consignment partner, luxury goods seller Linda’s Stuff, will take care of the item’s photography, pricing and listing. Once the item sells, eBay said the consignor will receive the proceeds from the sale, which is a percentage of the sale depending on the item’s selling price.

As for what is eligible, eBay said consignment for apparel is available for select brands, including Golden Goose, Gucci, David Yurman, Chanel, Tag Heuer, Hublot and more. The items are accepted at any price point, in either new or pre-owned condition.

EBay said in a statement that sellers are seeing stronger final sale prices via consignment than similar items listed traditionally.

The company is expanding its consignment service as demand for pre-owned fashion gains steam. For instance, in eBay’s “Recommerce Report,” the marketplace found pre-loved and refurbished makes up 40 percent of its gross merchandise volume.

When eBay launched its consignment service in September 2023, its global general manager of luxury Tirath Kamdar said, “Our top priority is to respond to the ever-evolving needs of our customers, and continuously delight luxury shoppers and sellersLaunching a consignment service builds on the momentum of offerings like Authenticity Guarantee and Certified By Brand, giving our customers more trusted ways to buy and sell on the marketplace.”
