Charity Works: FitMyFoot and One Eighty Foundation to Gift Custom Insoles to Essential Workers + More

Dec. 21, 2020: Foot wellness company FitMyFoot has partnered with the non-profit One Eighty Foundation, to support essential workers this holiday season with free custom insoles. For every pair of FitMyFoot insoles sold during the month of December, another pair will be gifted by One Eighty Foundation to an essential worker in the U.S. The first recipients will be from UW Medicine, the Anaheim Firefighters Association and the Community Cancer Fund; workers can order and be fitted for their custom pair through any smartphone.

Dec. 2, 2020: Schutz has teamed up with charitable organization Soles4Souls to encourage customers to give back this holiday season. Through the Donate & Get Campaign, the first 500 customers to visit Schutz’s website and register for Donate & Get will be prompted to upload a photo of a pair of shoes — from any label — that they commit to donating, and in return will receive a free pair of new Schutz shoes. The 500 pairs will be donated to Soles4Souls to supply footwear to individuals in need.

Dec. 2, 2020: Dearfoams has donated $10,000 to food banks across America following the end of its “The Family You Choose” holiday giveback sweepstakes, and in celebration of Giving Tuesday. Dearfoams introduced “The Family You Choose” to provide seven winners with the ultimate holiday family feast (a $1,400 value) to enjoy virtually together. For every entry between Oct. 9 and Nov. 13, 2020, Dearfoams pledged to donate $1 to local food banks across the country.

Dec. 2, 2020: Macy’s contributed $8,000 to DHA’s Opportunity Rising Scholars, bringing its total investment in North Texas scholars to more than $75,000. Macy’s and the Opportunity Rising Foundation, an initiative of DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas, have helped more than 300 North Texas scholars living in low-income housing attend the colleges of their choices. Macy’s began donating to the foundation in 2011, with contributions including, grants for scholarships, laptops and Macy’s gift cards for those receiving scholarships.

Dec. 1, 2020: Now through Christmas Eve, Old Navy is donating $10, up to $1 million, for every in-store pickup or curbside order to the nonprofit partners who fuel its This Way ONward job opportunity program. As part of the Giving Tuesday initiative, the donation will be used to provide underserved young people with jobs and mentoring opportunities to succeed in the workforce. With the support of its customers, the chain has donated $1.8 million to the program so far in 2020 and shared that it was on track to hire 20,000 youth by 2025.

Dec. 1, 2020: In its first-ever Giving Tuesday webinar, Bombas invited leaders from nonprofits Human.NYC and UWS Open Hearts to speak about their partnership and discuss ways to advocate for the homeless community. Along with its 3,500 “Giving Partners” across the country, the brand shared that it has donated more than 40 million pairs of socks and T-shirts to date for people in need, plus more than 3.4 million items throughout the holiday season alone so far. In celebration of the holidays, it plans to continue its annual holiday gifting program with partner organization Samuel Proctor Residence, which serves children and families who are seeking permanent housing. According to the company, Bombas team members will get matched with kids at the New York-based shelter, and the brand will sponsor employees to spend $100 each toward gifts that the children’s parents can then give them during the holidays.

Dec. 1, 2020: JCPenney has joined forces with Shaquille O’Neal to celebrate Giving Tuesday. At its store in Hurst, Texas, the department store announced that it has given more than $240,000 to nonprofits, with Communities In Schools receiving the largest donation of $100,000. (O’Neal, who is a board member of the organization, is accepting the donation on its behalf.) JCPenney also provided $25,000 in gift cards for the North Texas Communities In Schools Giving Tree program, while the NBA legend played Santa Claus for three local families and delivered surprise holiday gifts to their cars at the Giving Tuesday presentation.

Dec. 1, 2020: H&M and award-winning performer Billy Porter have partnered to support The Trevor Project, which provides free and confidential crisis counseling to LGBTQ youth. Starting Nov. 30, customers can visit TheTrevorProject.org, where the fast-fashion giant will match all donations up to $250,000. “We are thrilled to partner with The Trevor Project this year for Giving Tuesday,” president of the retailer’s USA arm, Stefan Vos, said in a statement. “This builds on H&M USA’s support of the LGBTQIA+ community over the years, and we are proud that this partnership will help them continue their life-saving work.”

Dec. 1, 2020: On Giving Tuesday, Aerosoles is donating 10% of every purchase to nonprofit Feeding America, which provides meals to those in need through food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other community-based agencies. “This year has shown us the power of community. At a time when many have lost their jobs, faced health scares or lost loved ones, we have seen amazing generosity and strength come forth,” the brand wrote in an email. “We encourage you to give back in your own way, today and every day.”

Big Philanthropic Initiatives Last Month

Nov. 30, 2020: Kohl’s is donating $5 million in grants to more than 100 nonprofit organizations across the country. Through the brand’s A Community with Heart program, Kohl’s associates nationwide nominated and identified local nonprofits that make a difference for families in their communities to be surprised with a grant from Kohl’s. The donations are made possible through Kohl’s philanthropic merchandise program, Kohl’s Cares.

Nov. 20, 2020: In honor of Giving Tuesday, Vionic is partnering with Dress for Success to help women across the globe feel like their best selves. On Dec. 1, the comfort brand will be donating 1% of all online sales at VionicShoes.com to the nonprofit organization. Dress for Success works to empower women through networks of support in addition to providing proper professional attire and developmental tools.

Nov. 18, 2020: Famous Footwear has raised the first $1 million for national charity partner Ticket to Dream Foundation. The donation was made possible through contributions made by customers in Famous Footwear stores throughout the U.S. since the month of July. The funds will help enhance the lives of over 54,000 foster kids of all ages. A portion of the proceeds will go towards donations for the holiday season, including 1,700 pairs of Converse sneakers, holiday décor and gifts for group homes.
