NYPD Briefly Shuts Down Versace Sample Sale Amid Crowd Control Concerns

NYPD briefly shut down a Versace sample sale in New York on Wednesday. The sample sale was located at 125 West 18th St. and kicked off at 9 a.m.

The sale drew a crowd of nearly 1,000 people, some of whom reportedly had been waiting outside the building since 2 a.m.

However, as the crowd amassed, security at the sample sale called NYPD to assist with crowd control.

Despite rumors of altercations, the NYPD confirmed to FN that there were no criminal activities, arrests, or summons. Their presence was to ensure safety and manage the crowd. Following a brief closure to reorganize, the store reopened shortly after.

The event garnered widespread attention across social media, with over 16,000 viewers tuning into the Citizen Alerts app, a platform that shares live broadcasts of reported crimes and incidents, to watch the large group gathering outside the sale. The store had closed by Wednesday afternoon.
