Amazon ‘Prime Day’ Offers Discounted Footwear Prices

The deals are off and running for Amazon‘s Prime Day, and shoe brands appear to be taking advantage.

While the summer sale competition has heated up, Amazon Prime Day aims to offer exclusive deals to members comparable to Black Friday. Prime costs $99 a year, but to access today’s sa, users can sign up for a free 30-day trial to take advantage of savings. It’s the latest effort by Amazon to boost summer sales.

Discounts on footwear have averaged around 30% across styles. As part of its “Lightning Deals,” or mini-flash sales on specific items, shoes have also been included in the offerings. We spied everything from Keds and Timberland boots, to David Pliner Chelsea boots and Asics Gel running shoes for men in the roundup. Cole Haan, Crocs and Florsheim also make an appearance in the flash sale roundup.

Not to be outdone, Wal-Mart is also heavily promoting its own ‘Rollback’ prices today and has lowered the dollar amount to qualify for free shipping.  Like Amazon, Wal-Mart has also lowered prices on some of its footwear offerings today.

Watch on FN

Earlier this week Fernando Madeira, president and CEO of Walmart.com, wrote in a blog post: “If you’ve shopped Walmart.com, you’ll know that every day is a special day where everyone has access to the same low prices we offer…We’ve heard some retailers are charging $100 to get access to a sale. But the idea of asking customers to pay extra in order to save money just doesn’t add up for us.”
