7 Shoe Brands Talk Spring ’17 Trends at Sole Commerce

FN hit Sole Commerce in New York City this week. Here’s a look at the trends and items brands are banking on for spring ’17.

1. Ron Kenigsberg, President, Miz Mooz

“Spring booties and anything with braiding are big. Fringe tassels and whip stitch, items with an Americana feel. Also, wovens or anything with detailed textures.”

2. Alan Feigenson, Northeast Brand Manager, Blackstone

“Lots of sneakers. Consumers want a sneaker with a coolness factor, like embossed details.”

3. Maria Battinelli, Sales Associate, All Black

“Metallic has been good, and athleisure is always going to be big. Mules and slides are taking over. Everyone wants that ease. We are also getting attention on our cool and interesting architectural heels.”

4. Max Harrell, Director of Sales, Summit From Italy

“Mules are doing exceptionally well. Flatforms are also doing well and have turned into a whole business for us. Man tailored and athletic details are also important.”

5. Kevin Patera, U.S. Wholesale Sales and Operations Manager, Schutz

“Flatforms and man tailored city sandals and block heels. People tend to look at our brand as trendy and sexy, but we are doing well with everyday styles.”

6. Patricia Jasmin, National Sales Manager, Nanette Lapore

“For fall ’16 we had a lot of success with embroidery, and I expect that to continue. Japanese florals are exciting details and block heels in blush are going to be huge.”

7. Danielle Rosen, East Coast Territory Manager, Corso Como

“Mules have been really strong. We’ve had a really good reaction to denim and block heels. It’s all about casual and ’70s influences.”
