In October, Beijing-based designer Zhijun Wang made sneakerheads cringe when he cut up a pair of Adidas Yeezy Boost 350V2s and turned the scraps into a functional face mask. If that project had you feeling a little uneasy, you may want to turn away from this one.
Wang’s latest undertaking sees him ravage the Acronym x NikeLab Air Presto “Olive,” a collaboration released in September that quickly became one of 2016’s most desired releases. Here, the signature toggles and zippers found at the heel of the sneaker serve as the base for the mask, which also utilizes the shoe’s heel cup and TPU cage.
This handcrafted mask is Wang’s second time working on the Acronym x NikeLab Air Presto, as he’s previously created a mask with materials from the “Hot Lava/Volt” colorway.
As of 1:30 p.m. ET, the Acronym x Nike Air Presto “Olive” is listed for as high as $888.88 on eBay, making this quite a costly art project.
