Barneys New York ‘Sole Series’ Drops Limited-Edition Brooks Sneakers

Barneys is keeping its Sole Series going strong with another retro sneaker release. Chris Pepe, senior buyer of men’s footwear, is an avid runner and a fan of Seattle-based Brooks.

“The sneakers were based on their Chariot style from 1982, one of the most-worn running shoes of the ‘80s,” said Pepe. “We were inspired by vintage varsity jackets, which is how we landed on the collegiate colors of black and burgundy.”

The sneakers feature both leather and suede accents and have a reflective vamp and tongue. Earlier this month, Barneys released its series with Diadora. Those sneakers featured bold metallic accents.

This release follows the Adidas Stan Smith sneakers, Vans slip-on sneakers, Filling Pieces sneakers, Timberland field boots and Converse Chuck Taylors. The series runs through December.

Brooks has released several other collaborations and special-edition shoes recently, including an NYC-inspired shoe for the marathon and updates on their Beast 1 style with Japanese retailer Mita and Concepts.
