Beyoncé’s style has evolved into the right kind of “Formation” since debuting at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000, as a member of Destiny’s Child.
The diva is nominated for 11 MTV Video Music Awards, including Video of the Year for “Formation” and Breakthrough Long Form Video for her Emmy-nominated HBO special, “Lemonade.”
Though it’s not certain that the songbird will appear when the award program airs on the cable network on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, she has provided years of memorable fashion statements on the red carpet and on the stage.
Nearly 16 years ago when she arrived with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for their first VMA show, the singers rocked head-to-toe leather, including a pair of spiked stiletto boots.

Beyoncé described the look styled by her mother, Tina Knowles, as “edgy.”
“We thought we would flip it,” she told MTV host Molly Sims on the red carpet, “so we have this rhinestone rock girl vibe.”
The next year, she teamed a pair of turquoise booties with matching jewelry and a coral-colored fringe dress.
But in 2003, when she released her debut solo album, “Dangerously in Love,” the Queen Bey’s style started to evolve along with her music. Stepping out in a sparkling champagne-colored dress, she completed the alluring look with a pair of silver Giuseppe Zanotti sandals that featured striking fishbone detail.
In 2006, she accepted a Moonman statue wearing a pair of muted silver sandals, and later arrived at an after-party in the same shoes.
The following year she hit the red carpet in silver sandals alongside younger sister Solange Knowles. The shoes featured a chunky ankle strap and bow detail along the toe bed.
Along with her star status rising, so did Beyoncé’s heels. In 2011, she performed in towering black T-strap platform heels and revealed her baby bump onstage — making headlines before publicly speaking about her pregnancy with Blue Ivy, her daughter with rapper Jay Z.
In 2014, she strutted down the red carpet in Christian Louboutin’s Lady Peep platform pumps before changing into a pair of burgundy pointed-toe heels and a matching dress to claim her prize.
