Chloë Sevigny Stars In Jimmy Choo Spring ’16 Film Wearing Her Favorite Shoes

Actress Chloë Sevigny has long been admired, discussed and earmarked as a fashion original.  Her but her unique style (and forays into the biz with a long-running collection for Opening Ceremony) have not hindered her ability to take on roles as eclectic as she is: from ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ to ‘Big Love’ and ‘The Last Days of Disco’ to her current role on Netflix’s ‘Bloodline’

And now, the indie and vintage darling is moonlighting as a model for Jimmy Choo‘s Spring ’16 collection. The resulting film and photo shoot was shot by Todd Cole with the kitschy-cool Florida Keys as backdrop, where Sevigny films the show.

“I love the fact that she’s a bit unexpected and has such a unique and creative aesthetic making our collection work with her style,” said Jimmy Choo creative director Sandra Choi in a statement. “The shoot embodies the spirit of the collection, laid back glamour against a sultry, sun bleached backdrop of palm shadows and pastel shades. You can almost feel the sun on your skin.”

The shoes worn in the campaign were all chosen by Sevigny herself and styled by Bay Garnett with retro dresses or denim to capture her signature offbeat aplomb. Footwear ranged from Dexie open-toe flat boots to classic Miami mid-top trainers, flatform Perla 70 palm-print sandals, Halley tropical-hued heels and Luc 100 white pumps, a favorite of the actress.

Sevigny also entertained some questions about her individual style and influences.

Describe your style and any eras, icons or influences you have?
“Growing up in suburban Connecticut most of my style influences were people I’d see around me, the rebels at school, the girls who were into alternative music, in clunky shoes and black mock turtlenecks, they had the bumper sticker for the alternative station on the back of their Volvos, they were the crowd I wanted to roll with.”

Favourite Jimmy Choo style from the Jimmy Choo shoot? Why do you like it and where would you wear it?
“I loved the white Luc pump with the ankle strap and the red vinyl at the toe cleavage. These shoes would be great with jeans or a sexy dress. They reminded me of white pumps I’d wear in the 90s, with everything. I love a white shoe, it’s a bold statement.”

What is your earliest fashion memory?
“My father polishing his shoes. He was a Marine so that’s where his habit of polishing his shoes every night when he came home stemmed from. I remember being in my night gown and smelling the polish and watching the care he took over these items he cherished, it was an important lesson.”

Where do you shop? Do you have any secret treasure troves you can share?
“I have a path through certain neighborhoods in NY that have all my spots. I know who has what as far as era and brands that I like. I’m mostly always on the vintage hunt, it’s an addiction.”

What projects do you have coming up?
“I’ve been very busy this last year with two films set for release, ‘Love and Friendship’ directed by Whit Stillman, and ‘Antibirth’ co-starring Natasha Lyonne. I just wrapped the second season of ‘Bloodine’. I also shot my directorial debut called Kitty which I’m hoping to show at festivals. At present I’m in Norway shooting a thriller with Michael Fassbender called ‘The Snowman’. I feel so lucky to still be in the biz and getting interesting parts in great projects.
