Kanye West Autographed One of His Rarest Louis Vuitton Sneakers for a Fan

Kanye West‘s Adidas shoes are all the rage these days, but the Yeezy Boosts are just the latest chapter in the rapper/designer’s ever-expanding portfolio of sneaker designs. Starting with his earliest work creating kicks with Nike, A Bathing Ape and Reebok, to eventually getting his own Nike Air Yeezy signature line, West’s footwear endeavors have become as celebrated as his music. As ubiquitous as West-designed sneakers may be, his Louis Vuitton collection — released in 2009 — stands out as one of the rarest of the bunch.

Not only is the Kanye West x Louis Vuitton collection rare, but the friends-and-family colorway of the Hudson is said to be limited to just 24 pairs. The gray suede sneakers are accented with a bright pink midsole and feature 24k gold hardware.

This colorway of the Kanye West x Louis Vuitton Hudson is seldom seen, especially a pair autographed by West himself. However, thanks to a chance encounter on Sept. 17, West fans Julian Oliveros and Juan Zapata were lucky enough to attain a signed pair. Oliveros shared a clip on Twitter of him and Zapata catching up with West, who would sign the shoes.

In recent months, several fans have been spotted seeking autographs on West’s Adidas Yeezy Boost sneakers, but Oliveros and Zapata told Footwear News that they wanted to try something different. “We didn’t want the same experience as everyone else. We wanted to stand out of the crowd. As a result, we thought about these shoes since they’re so exclusive,” Oliveros said.

According to Oliveros and Zapata, they sourced the rare sneakers from a friend with the intentions of attempting to get them signed at West’s concert on Sept. 17 in Miami. “Long story short, we brought them into the concert and though he saw them, he never signed them. The next day outside his hotel, when he was leaving for his second show, we managed to get super close to him and that’s when the magic happened,” Oliveros told Footwear News.

Next, Oliveros and Zapata plan to get the signed sneakers professionally authenticated and putting them up for auction on eBay. Check back soon for a live auction link to try your luck at owning these.
