LeBron James’ Son Shows He Has Game on the Court

In a video tweeted out by his proud papa, 10-year-old LeBron James Jr. shows that, clearly, like father, like son. A highlight video from little LeBron’s game at the 2014 Ronald Searles Holiday Classic with Houston’s nationally ranked Gulf Coast Blue Chips 4th grade squad has already gone viral with more than 1 million views, as images of his behind-the-back passes, layups through several defenders and down-the-court plays circulate the web.

LeBron James Sr. — whose new LeBron 12 Akron Birch sneaker will be released on Dec. 26 as part of Nike’s Christmas 2014 collection — posted these encouraging words to his son with his tweet: “Proud of you son! Great job in Houston and congrats on bringing home 1st place.” And although the video continues to gain views and generate buzz, James Sr. says his son who goes by the nickname “Bronny,” had no idea how much attention it has received, which, he says, is a good thing. He told ESPN, “Keep him away from it as much as possible. His father knows exactly what could happen.”

When asked by ESPN about his son’s future in basketball, the NBA champion, who returned this season to his hometown to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers, responded: “He’s got a chance if he loves the game and he works at it, he has a chance to be good. But he’s still young. Just play for the love of the game. Don’t worry about nothing else.” Ohio State coach Thad Matta agrees. In October, Matta reportedly joked that Bronny was “on the recruiting radar… I need to offer him a scholarship.”

Another thing LeBron James Jr. doesn’t have to worry about? Sneakers. As it appears, he may be wearing a pair of his dad’s Lebron 12s on the court in the video.
