Madewell Recalls Women’s Sandals Due to Fall Hazard

New York-based Madewell Inc. is recalling 50,600 of pairs of women’s sandals — most of which have been sold in the U.S. and 300 of which were sold in Canada — due to a fall hazard.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recall involves all Madewell Sightseer sandals from the J.Crew owned-company’s spring 2015 collection.

The sandals were sold, from February 2015 to July 2015, in Madewell stores, online at madewell.com and at shopbop.com for between $60 and $80.

Sandals with the following 10 style numbers and names in all sizes are being recalled: (The style numbers are located on a sticker on the outsole of the shoes)

Madewell, the CPSC said, received eight reports of metal shanks dislodging and breaking through the bottom of the outsole of the shoes, although no injuries have been reported.

The shoes were manufactured in Brazil, the CPSC said.
