Misha Nonoo’s Guilty Pleasure And ‘Scandal’ Obsession

Misha Nonoo is ruling the runway — she’s in her third season as a partner in the Aldo Rise initiative, and her shoes and handbags were showcased Saturday for New York Fashion Week, though not in the traditional way. Nonoo, who was born in Bahrain and raised in London, opted to go fully digital — unveiling her runway looks solely on Instagram.

Her spring ’16 footwear styles are bold, including “modern lines, denim and a celebration of color,” according to Nonoo, who told Footwear News she was inspired by artist Donald Judd. “My starting point was the 1960s minimal art movement and the simultaneous spirited beginnings of the women’s rights movement,” said the designer, whose eponymous ready-to-wear collection debuted in February 2011. “The juxtaposition of influences allowed the [spring ’16] collection to play with subtly sexy uniform silhouettes, which are paired with feminine but tailored platforms.”
