Obituary: George Grashin, 86

Longtime Frank More Shoes owner George Grashin died July 28 in Seattle. He was 86.

Born on April 28, 1928, Grashin, who spent more than 50 years in the shoe industry, was possibly best known as the owner of the six men’s and women’s Frank More Shoes locations in Seattle and Northern California, which he bought in the early ’70s. He also worked at U.S. Shoe Corp. before his retirement 15 years ago, according to his son Howard.

“He was a very likable guy — very honorable and a man-of-his-word kind of guy,” Howard Grashin said. “The industry could be rough and he wasn’t — he had his own personality, and that carried through to people he met.”

Grashin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara, and his family.
