We all know the Oscars red carpet is dominated by the fashion bigwigs. Celebrities flock to simple, elegant heels from the likes of Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Stuart Weitzman. But when looking at the history of past awards show fashion, there’s one style in particular that’s remained a strong constant: the peep-toe.
The simple style is often chosen for its streamlined shape and comfort (most peep-toe heels have a platform, as opposed to the higher steep found in single-sole heels).

Popular styles over the years have included Christian Louboutin’s Lady peep-toe, worn by almost every single starlet at one point or another.
Brian Atwood‘s Tribeca style is often favored for extra height under long gowns. Gwyneth Paltrow notable wore the designer in 2011, which she paired with a metallic Calvin Klein dress.
Angelina Jolie also wore a Salvatore Ferragamo peep-toe style at the 2012 Oscars, where she famously pioneered the #AngiesRightLeg social media movement.

Other notable styles include Jimmy Choo’s Vibe peep-toe platform, which Kate Hudson wore to the Oscars in 2014. Lupita Nyong’o wore Nicholas Kirkwood’s Casati pearl-encursted peep-toe pumps to the Oscars last year.
This past year’s red carpet was dominated by Stuart Weitzman’s Nudist sandal, though peep-toe styles appeared from Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Brian Atwood. You can definitely expect these same brands to appear this year.
