The Fashion Footwear Association of New York Has Announced Its Retailer of the Year

The Fashion Footwear Association of New York has chosen Shopbop.com as the Retailer of the Year for 2016. The online retail company will be recognized later this month at the shoe industry’s annual breast cancer fundraiser, QVC Presents “FFANY Shoes on Sale.”

Also scheduled to be honored at the event are Edgardo Osorio of Aquazzura, who has been named the Designer of the Year; and celebrity chef Sandra Lee, who will receive the Jodi Fisher Humanitarian Award.

In a statement announcing the retail award, FFANY president and CEO Ron Fromm cited Shopbop’s prominent place in the contemporary and designer realm. “Their visionary leadership in online retailing and thoughtful partnership with the creative fashion community has established them as one of the world’s leading retailers,” he said.

First founded as a brick-and-mortar store in Madison, Wis., Shopbop launched an online platform in 2000 and has grown rapidly, now selling a curated assortment of contemporary and luxury labels to customers in 165 countries.

During its 23 years, the FFANY Shoes on Sale breast cancer fundraiser has donated roughly $50 million to hospitals and foundations dedicated to research and treatment.

The 2016 gala will be held Oct. 25 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. And on Oct. 20, QVC will air a live three-hour broadcast during which it will sell roughly 180 different shoe styles at half the suggested retail price.
