Then and Now: Standout Supermodel Shoe Style

In the 1990s, it wasn’t always celebrities whose faces were splashed across billboards and magazine covers, it was supermodels. Linda, Naomi, Christy, Cindy, Kate, Claudia, and Helena—the women that were so famous they didn’t need to be referred to with their last names.

Back in the mid-90s and early 2000s, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista were runway regulars for Anna Sui. Both walked in Sui’s 1994 New York Fashion Week show. Campbell wore shimmery ankle booties paired with a pink fur skirt, jacket, and hat. Evangelista walked the runway in gold sandals with sheer black stocking socks underneath. The monochrome look was completed with a gold dress and gold headpiece.

Kate Moss walked in Calvin Klein’s 1994 show wearing black platform sandals with white crew socks, a black blazer and skirt, and a white CK t-shirt. Moss has continued her relationship with the label, posing for countless Calvin Klein ad campaigns over the years.

Continuing the ’90s obsession with monochromatic fashion, Cindy Crawford walked the Todd Oldham runway in 1997 wearing a gold dress, a gold shawl, and gold platform wedge sandals.

Fast-forward twenty years. These ladies may have somewhat ‘retired’ from the runway (although Campbell did walk in the Givenchy men’s spring ’16 show in Paris this year) but they’ve still got notable shoe style.
