Department stores have not had an easy go of it in 2016, suffering prolonged weakness after the holidays and continuing slides in consumer traffic. With the recent GDP report driven by the consumers and continued job-reports momentum, stores could start to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Macy’s, Kohl’s and Nordstrom report on Thursday, while JC Penney’s call is set for Friday.
