Nike Roshe 2 Launch 

The popular Nike Roshe collection gets a refresh this week. The Roshe Run 2 hits stores on Thursday with new Flyknit and mesh uppers, and a focus on a mix of athleisure styling and performance. The women’s gray and men’s olive mesh colorways will land on the Nike SNKRS and the Nike Tech Book.

Earnings: Footwear Retail Reports

DSW Inc. and Caleres Inc., parent company of Famous Footwear, Sam Edelman and other labels, report earnings on Tuesday. Shoe Carnival Inc. will post earnings on Wednesday. Expect analysts to continue to focus on promotional activity, store traffic and inventories.

U.S. Open Kicks Off

It’s the end of August in New York, and that means it’s also time for the U.S. Open. Star athletes kick off the tennis tournament today in Flushing, N.Y., with final matches expected for Sept. 11. All eyes are on Serena Williams, who lost in the semifinals last year, to capture the women’s single title. Rafael Nadal heads back to the court after an injury, and Novak Djokovic looks to win the men’s singles title back to back.

Adidas Unveils “Adidas Athletics” 

In New York on Tuesday, Adidas will unveil a new category for the brand called Adidas Athletics. Rob Lee, VP of design for Adidas training, and Kate Ridley, VP of training for Adidas North America, will be on hand to give more details at the event about the debut.
