U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Heads to First World Cup Game, Nike Celebrates

Nike is getting on the Team USA train. The sponsor of the U.S. women’s world cup team released a video today celebrating the American women as they get ready to face off in the first rounds of the World Cup.

Set to the song “American Woman” we get to see Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan, Sydney Leroux, Carli Lloyd, Christen Press and Megan Rapinoe in action and wearing the special women’s cleats Hypervenom II, Mercurial, Magista, and Tiempo. The short film also celebrates the #NoMaybes attitude of the team, determined to take home the cup this year after a disappointing run a few years ago.

The U.S. women’s team hasn’t won a World Cup since the 1999 win, and this time around the team is hungry for a victory. In 2011 they fell short in a final round against Japan.  The quest for the cup starts tonight as the U.S. faces off against Australia’s team at 7:30 p.m. Australia is ranked 10th in the world against the U.S. ranking, as second globally.
